Harmony Acupuncture Center is multi-faced in the services provided; Acupuncture, E-Stim, Cupping, Moxibustion, and Tui Na. Learn more about each service below.
Acupuncture is the placement of thin sterile needles into specific points on the body. The stimulation of these acupuncture points affects both the central and peripheral nervous systems. It triggers the release of the body's internal chemicals such as endorphins and enkephalins, which have pain-relieving properties.
E-stim, or 'electroacupuncture' uses a small amount of electrical current from electrodes to run through a needle to stimulate specific Acupuncture points. This method allows varying levels of stimulation without constant movement or manipulation of needles. Although E-stim is used to treat a wide variety of issues, it is especially effective in the treatment of neurological diseases, including chronic pain, spasm, and paralysis.
Cupping is a therapy designed to stimulate blood flow within the superficial muscle layers. It is used for sore muscles, tension, neck pain and the common cold. In this therapy, your acupuncturist will place cups over specific areas on your body. A vacuum is created under the cup using heat or suction.
Moxibustion is a treatment that uses an herb called mugwort. It may be burned on the handle of a needle, above the skin on salt or on a slice of ginger. This is used to "warm" acupuncture points or areas in order to quicken the healing process.
Tui-na is a Chinese massage technique that is used to relieve muscle pain, tension and inflammation to heal injuries.
